HAPPY NEW YEAR

My year in photos from Facebook. Also, ONE of my many resolutions is to keep up with this blog!

also in december...

Masyn learned how to climb up the stairs... & give her parents a heart attack.

December

I didn't post ONE blog in December. It seems like we were so busy! When we had the BLIZZARD I took advantage of the time at home and deep cleaned everything. Here is a short review of December 2009.
I took Masyn to see Santa Clause at Utica Square. She hated him. She  S C R E A M E D  the entire time he was in sight. Her picture was a blur. literally. She took the cookie he gave her, but screamed between bites. These pictures are after meeting Santa.
After she calmed down I changed her outfit & we met Candice at the Philbrook for their LIGHTS ON event. They had the ginger bread village on display, along with the festival of trees & it was the 25th anniversary year! Masyn made a bird feeder out of a rice cake, peanut butter & bird seed. Santa was also there- we didn't go near him. We decorated sugar cookies, toured the museum & ate pizza~ Mazzio's catered. They had several other activities to do, but it was getting late.
This month I was able to pull her hair into tiny pigtails. ponytail party here we come!
She started talking all of the time! She is saying banana, shoe, thank you, baby, eat, mommy, daddy, mimi... what is that? who is that? let's go! oh no! ok! and the list goes on!
Christmas Eve the blizzard started & we didn't make it to OKC. Thank goodness we didn't attempt to make it because they closed down the highways and turnpike! We celebrated Christmas together & baked cookies for Santa & Masyn. She would take a bite and say, "mmmm! yummy!" Masyn started saying, "Hhhhh HO HOHOOO!" on Christmas Eve. I wrapped her gifts in wow wow wubbzy paper and she wanted to play with the paper instead of the toys! Santa was extra good to Masyn this year, because she's such a good girl!! She loves her toys and her backyardigans couch!

After the roads cleared we made our way to Piedmont to visit Lyndon's grandma and grandpa Tharp & celebrate Christmas. They just moved to Piedmont from Enid so it was their 1st Christmas in their new home. Masyn couldn't leave Kay's decorations alone- they were just too pretty. They gave her a baby WITH A BOW. She keeps petting its head saying pr pr pretty.

The following Sunday my Oohma & Houston came over & we celebrated Christmas again! Masyn had figured out by now that there are TOYS inside the pretty paper & couldn't wait to open the gifts. Oohma got her the CUTEST coat in the world- it's soft and giraffe print- complete with brown satin bows, horns & ears! It will keep her warm in this crazy cold weather we're having! She also brought her a pair of gold Uggs & lots of toys. It was so nice to have them over! We will have to do that more often!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!!

dan & june's 50th wedding anniversary

Our friends just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary~ their children worked for months putting together a surprise party at their church. It was FABULOUS

*side note* June was against her children doing anything for their anniversary & didn't want them to go out of their way planning this- so they told her ok and did it anyway- gotta' love that! Dan told us a day or so before this party June said, "I hope they aren't planning anything, but if they are... I know what I am going to wear!!"  I love it!

Lyndon had to work so my friend Christina and her niece Sarah attended the celebration with me. Dan & June's son flew in from Colorado, but stopped in Kansas City for baked beans from his favorite restaurant. The food was great and Masyn drank SO much punch. There was a slide show of their life together that made me cry (happy tears) & then they fed each other cake and made a lovely toast. I also FINALLY got to meet their daughter Carol! I feel like I have known her forever because I have heard so much about her. It was nice to finally meet her! She's so sweet! Masyn even made a friend... a boyfriend ;) It was a wonderful night! In case you cannot tell from the picture, the cake was sprayed with metallic gold frosting. It looked (& tasted) amazing! Tina was going to pass on the cake & I said, "It's Merrits." She was in line getting a piece of cake right after that! Congratulations Dan & June!!

worst day ever... almost

2 nights ago someone tried to steal lyndon's truck from a parking lot in tulsa~ when he opened the door to his truck he knew someone had been inside because everything was open and thrown around the cab of the truck. They stole his gps, cash, pay checks, clothes, shoes... they even tried to steal the entire truck, but it has the antitheft security system & they couldn't get it started. I guess that is the bright side, because in the process of trying to steal it they broke a flat head screw driver off in the ignition & tore up everything. Sunday when I left work we drove to Tulsa to meet a locksmith who was going to replace the ignition & we were going to be on our way... that was the plan. things never work according to my plan. A two hours after the new ignition was put in, the truck still would not turn on. It would start & then shut off. The antitheft system wouldn't allow the truck to stay on. So today we are still trying to figure out what to do and how to get it fixed~ I have called every dealership in town & they have all said something different. As of now, I guess we're going to have it towed to the dealership & see if they can figure it out.

On a happier note, I have been wrapping gifts for 2 sweet little angles off of our angel tree. I am dropping them off on my way to work.

thankful

This year we had Thanksgiving dinner at my grandma's house. We picked my aunt ann up in bixby & took her with us~ Grandma cooked a huge dinner with everything you can imagine. I brought the cranberry/cherry/pecan/pineapple sauce & it turned out pretty good. here are some pictures from the day...

Thanksgiving night we went to Utica Square for the Lights On! when they turn on the Christmas lights for the holiday season. They turned on 700,000 lights~ A choir sang Christmas songs, Santa was there & there were so many people!

poor maymay

Sunday: Masyn ran a  low grade fever all day. We picked her up for Amy's & came home & gave her medicine before bed. 3 hours later she woke up screaming & HOT. We took her temp with our new ACCURATE thermometer & it read 104. In 3 short hours~ even with the medicine her fever shot up 4 1/2 degrees. We called the dr and they said to bring her in.

Monday @ 3am: we found out that she just has a virus and she tested negative for strep throat and the flu & her fever finally broke.  thank goodness. BUT the dr totally dismissed the rash she had on her neck, back and chest.

4am~ we make it home and to bed, masyn slept the hour home and never woke up when we brought her inside.

noon~ Masyn wakes up & is happy with no fever. She still has the rash on her neck. She still won't eat. I did get her to drink some milk though.

6pm~ I just remembered that Thanksgiving is THIS Thursday. THIS THURSDAY & I haven't picked up the stuff I said I would bring to dinner. Masyn was playing and seemed to be better so we went to walmart to pick up the groceries.

7pm~ she has waved & said hi and bye to everyone in the store~ we stop at McDonalds & she eats some cheeseburger and french fries & drank ALL of her milk. YAY! I think she's well.

11:45~ she wakes up screaming. no fever. but nothing calms her down. when she tries to walk she just falls down.

Tuesday 12:15am:  a bath seems to be the only thing that calms her down and as soon as I take her our she screams again. I even offered her a bottle and she wouldn't take it.

Finally we find out she has Roseola and she probably just didn't feel well and didn't know how to express what she was feeling. The nurse said it just has to run its course and just keep offering her food and liquids.

It's noon and she is laughing and playing. The rash is all over her body, but for now she seems to be feeling better.

water

if you read southernnesting.blogspot.com then you saw the post about water that i reposted from meg's blog. why am I so pumped up about water? what's this whole water thing anyway? what's the BIG DEAL?!

Do I really think I can make a difference??
There are so many 'causes' & 'crises' .... WHY water?

Let me see if I can answer some of the questions...

I will try to contain myself and stop talking about this and posting link after link and video after video on my facebook. I just wanted to share more of where I am coming from.

W A T E R  has hit me so hard because it's such a simple thing.
a simple thing that I take for granted every single day.
I can't imagine having to work so hard to get my lil maymay some nasty water so she doesn't DIE of dehydration & then sit and worry that the nasty stuff in the water I just gave her may KILL HER.

It's almost beyond my comprehension.
except I can imagine.
and it's NOT ok.
photo from charitywater.org
"of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, 90% are children under 5 years old." charitywater.org

WE CAN FIX IT!!  WE C A N fix it.

Yes, we've built wells (in 1 year, water4christmas has raised $100 grand) and I am awed by that. It's awesome.

i'm not trying to guilt you into anything.
so many of you are so involved in so many GREAT things.
i truly believe God calls us each to things...and this might not be yours.
we can't ALL "do" water...there are lots of other causes that also need our attention!

BUT...i am just trying to share my heart.
where i'm coming from.
and allow you the opportunities to be blessed by blessing others.

and for those of you with children...
{this is HUGE for me}

$10 or $20 dollars is a very attainable number, & you can change someones LIFE~ that's HUGE people!

DOES THAT GET YOUR BLOOD PUMPING OR WHAT!?!?

so....

PRAY

THANK GOD FOR THE CLEAN WATER YOU JUST TOOK A SIP OF

and appreciate the luxury we all have to chase our babies around the house and hear their giggles {some of you don't have that specific luxury...but something just as great!}...because we aren't spending hours out of our day walking to collect contaminated water...

KUPCAKZ

I took Masyn to get her flu shot booster yesterday. It was awful. She remembered what a shot was and screamed the minute we went in the room~ before she even saw the needle! After the shot was over she didn't cry long. I planned on taking her for ice cream or something
after her shots, but we ran out of time~ so we went today. The 71st street traffic was CRAZY and I didn't want to drive all the way to Merritt's so we stopped at Kupcakz. If you haven't tried a cupcake from there, you're missing out. big time. They even have t-shirts, cupcake stands, & aprons for sale that are just adorable.(well, you can rent the cupcake stands~ I checked because I am using this place for Masyn's ponytail party)  All of the photos on the wall are photographs of their cupcakes & I loved this...

Masyn got her very own PRETTY IN PINK cupcake  (creamy vanilla cake with pretty pink buttercream and pink daisies & edible glitter) She kept calling it a cookie. Trust me, it was adorable.click on this photo & look at how sparkly her cupcake was before she smashed it!
I sampled the
positively pumpkin (5 out of 4 stars) & the peppermint maddy (5 out of 4 stars as well)
If Lyndon had been with us he would have tried the
Sooner than Later (red velvet cake with cream cheese icing) Everyone knows how I LOVE LOVE Merritt's bakery, but the next time I have a party or need to bring a dessert I will be stopping at Kupcakz. Aren't the Thanksgiving themed cupcakes fabulous? Look at how they sparkle!

Masyn only ate 1/2 of her cupcake, Bridgette gave us a to go box. Masyn carried her box around all day instead of Elmo! She didn't even try to open it, she just liked knowing she had her cupcake!

poison control

we had to call poison control for the first time last night. I came in from work, only to have Lyndon greet me by saying, "GUESS WHAT MASYN JUST BROUGHT ME?!" He handed me a piece of m o u s e  p o i s o n . We do not have mouse poison in the house. We are still not 100% sure where she found it. I got the number to poison control & explained our situation. He didn't sound worried at all~ I am in a panic and he acts like its not a big deal. First of all, he asks our names, her age & her weight. He said at her weight (16.9 pounds) she would have to ingest at least a tablespoon. Since there was no box involved he said not to worry. Also, he said if she ate just one piece, she would have blue streaks in her mouth (on her tongue or on her teeth) she didn't. Then he said it takes 3 days before anything happens and we would notice bloody gums, blood in her diapers and severe bruising in the next 24 hours. If any of that happens, take her to the dr~ Lyndon and I do not think she ate even a kernel though, THANK THE LORD! If I thought for a minute that she had, I would not be waiting 24 hours to take her to the Dr. 1st chicken pox then poison control... sheesh. We believe we must have tracked it in from the garage on one of our shoes. Guess what I am doing today? FINDING THE POISON AND TRASHING IT.

11.11.2009

masyn has the chicken pox. its a mild case, thank goodness. she only has 9 of them. This is before they turned into blisters. She had them for a few days before we realized what they were. Today they starting to 'crust over' ~ i know, that sounds gross. My pictures aren't very good because the lighting was bad, but you get the idea. Hopefully she will heal quick!

lil sooner

masyn is a sooner fan in case you were wondering.
